Air Vanuatu is the flag carrier for Vanuatu, where it is based, a South Pacific Ocean nation made up of roughly 80 islands. The airline's main base is Bauerfield International Airport near Port Vila, the harborside capital on the main island of Efate. It also flies to more than 20 domestic destinations and is currently the only airline offering domestic flights within Vanuatu.
Air Vanuatu has codeshare agreements with Air New Zealand, Fiji Airways (formerly Air Pacific) and Qantas.
Air Vanuatu allows passengers to see the outer islands of Vanuatu. Flights to /from Santo and Tanna Island are operated by ATR72-500 aircraft. All flights to / from Noumea (New Caledonia) and Fiji are operated by ATR 72-500 aircraft which each have 69 seats.

Air Vanuatu has a different baggage policy for carry-on and checked baggage policy.
The carry on baggage allowance is 7kg for all passengers, including Economy Business. The only exception is on domestic flights and flights to Caledonia/Fiji, when Economy passengers have a 5kg baggage allowance.

The checked baggage allowance depends on the route being flown. All check baggage must not exceed these measurements: 48cm in length, 23cm in depth, and 34cm in height.

Service onboard reflects the warm and friendly Melanesian culture from the moment you enter the plane and throughout your flight.
Passengers can enjoy the inflight entertainment on board economy class, which includes free wifi on some aircraft which allows passengers to stream Vanuatu entertainment app which includes TV shows, films, documentaries and radio. On flights to/from Australia and NZ, the ticket price includes baggage, meals, drinks and entertainment.
The leather seats onboard are set up in a spacious 3 x 3 set up which allows passengers their own space to relax and enjoy the flight.
Business Class passengers enjoy the same entertainment system that economy class enjoy, with a intricate and delicious meal.
The meal provided on business class consists of 5 courses, starting with canapes. Drinks such as French Champagne and wine are served throughout the flight, and with your meal to compliment the flavours.
Domestic seats are more luxurious and spacious, with a separate cabin at the front of the plane to allow passengers peace to relax in business. The seats have a 2 x 2 configuration, allowing more space between seats to the side and plenty of legroom.
Air Vanuatu offers online check-in for specific routes, otherwise airport check-in is the only other option available.
Online check-in is available for all flights between Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and New Caledonia.

For international flights, online check-in opens 24-hours before a flight’s scheduled departure and closes 3 hours prior to the scheduled departure.
For domestic flights, online check-in opens 24-hours before a flight’s scheduled departure and closes 1 hour prior to the scheduled departure.
All domestic check-in counters open 2 hours prior and close 45 minutes before departure.
Air Vanuatu Airport International check-in counters open 2.5 hours before a flight departs. For New Zealand flights this is 3 hours prior. Check-in will close 60 minutes before departure.
Air Vanuatu offers Qantas Frequent Flyers the opportunity to earn Qantas Frequent Flyer Points on any Air Vanuatu operated service, booked with an Air Vanuatu flight number.
Passengers may also book reward flights on Air Vanuatu; reservations for these must be made directly with Qantas. The Qantas Frequent Flyer offers frequent travellers a range of benefits and the more you fly with Air Vanuatu and other airline partners, the more points you will be able to earn.
Air Vanuatu is not part of an airline alliance.

All economy class passengers, on all flights, will be offered either a meal or snack service (depending on route and flight duration), plus a complimentary bar service offering: soft drinks, juice, wine and beer.
On flights to/from Australia and New Zealand, when a Business Class is available, passengers are provided with a premium 4 course meal and full bar service. If you are travelling on flights to & from Noumea and Nadi, passengers will be served a snack box, light meal, plus beverage service.
Special meals are available upon request. The airline asks passengers to state their preferred meal request prior to confirming their booking - this can be easily completed when making your booking through Alternative Airlines. Air Vanuatu International flights to / from Australia and New Zealand operated by the 737-800 offers free Wi Fi Entertainment. Passengers can choose from a number of films, TV shows, and special Vanuatu documentaries, which can be streamed on passenger’s personal digital devices, such as mobiles, laptops, and tablets. Simply download the airline’s app before flying, and connect via WiFi when in the sky!
WiFi is available for free, and can be used (only) for streaming entertainment via the airline’s app - only on selected flights.
