Milan-Malpensa Airport

Milan–Malpensa Airport is the biggest international airport in northern Italy. It serves 15 million inhabitants, as well as those living in the Swiss region of Canton Ticino. The airport is located 49 kilometres (30 mi) northwest of central Milan and  has two terminals and two runways, as well as a dedicated cargo terminal.

In 2017, Malpensa Airport handled 22,169,167 passengers and was reported as Europe's 26th busiest airport. Until 2008, Malpensa Airport was a major hub for the flag carrier Alitalia.  Malpensa Airport remains the second busiest Italian airport for international passenger traffic (after Rome Fiumicino Airport), and first busiest for freight and cargo. It handles over 500,000 tons of international freight annually. The first industrial airport was opened in 1909 near the Cascina Malpensa, an old farm, by Giovanni Agusta and Gianni Caproni to test their aircraft prototypes. This airport was then opened for civil operation in 1948 during the war reconstruction period, in order to serve the northern area of Milan.

Neos Airline introduces first Dreamliner at Milano Malpensa Airport

Neos, has launched a new presented Boeing 787-9 in Milan Malpensa. This is the first to enter its fleet and will take off on December 21 to Pointe-a-Pitre, Guadalupe, in collaboration with Costa Crociere.

“With this new aircraft, today, we are facing three challenges and at the same time three reasons of pride,” said Lupo Rattazzi, President of Neos. “For me, personally, this is the fourth long-range machine that I [am] introduc[ing] on the Italian market and is the most innovative; it is, therefore, an Italian pride to bring this aircraft to Italy, as it is for the Alpitour group (tour operating company) that made the project become a reality.”
