About Iberia
Iberia is the largest flag carrier of Spain and is part of the International Airlines Group (IAG). Iberia still continues to operate under its own brand and flies to many destinations. These destinations include Accra, Algiers, Athens, Barcelona, Bilbao, Bogota, Bologna, Brussels, Buenos Aires, Cali, Caracas, Casablanca, Hamburg, Istanbul, Guayaquil, Geneva, Funchal, Florence, Lagos, Lima, London, Los Angeles and many others. In addition to IAG, Iberia has codeshare agreements with Air Berlin, American Airlines, Avianca, Buglaria Air, Copa Airlines, Czech Airlines, El Al, Royal Jordanian and many others.
Iberia operates an all-Airbus fleet including A319s, A320s, A321s, A330s, A340s. All of aircraft in the fleet are configured in a two class layout with Business and Economy cabins. Iberia was one of the last remaining major airlines that has equipped all of its intercontinental routes with PTVs (as for 2016 Iberia has its A330 (200-300) Fleet with IFE installed as well as the A340-600 fleet).
In March 2009 Iberia announced that during the course of 2009–2011 it would renovate its economy class on all its planes as well as designing a new business class for its long haul planes. Iberia offers Business Class, Business Club, Business Plus and Economy Class. Iberia has a 9.49% stake in low-cost carrier Vueling which is based near Barcelona, with parent company IAG owning the remaining 90.51%. This was done to ensure that IAG does not have 100% of the shares in Vueling, but that the shares are split between its divisions.
Iberia also has a 0.95% share in Royal Air Maroc. British Airways' sister airline, Level, is offering transatlantic fares dramatically lower than rivals. Flights are operated by the Spanish airline Iberia on behalf of Level. In 2006, Iberia provided funds to help set up the airline Catair, now known as Clickair, in return for a share in the company. However, Clickair was merged with Vueling in 2009.
Iberia has codeshare agreements with many airlines including Boliviana De Aviacion, Finnair, El Al and S7 Airlines. Iberia is also the parent company for Iberia Express, who commenced operations in 2012.
