China Airlines announces "Eco Travel Carbon Offssetting" service
China Airlines is soon to allow travellers to learn about their carbon footprint and emissions of their flight. China Airlines' passengers will now be able to voluntarily participate in carbon offsetting, allowing them to achieve "carbon neutrality" when they fly. The new initiative is part of a partnership with the UK environmental organization, Climate Care.The China Airlines Administration and Training building has also received a "Diamond-rated" green building score by China's Ministry of the interior.

China Airlines faces currency challenges
Having $100 billion USD tied up in its fleet, China Airlines faces the challenge of repaying its debts in an unstable financial climate. Despite the company's financial security, the prospect of a trade war pushing the local currency to its lowest level in six months. The weaker Yuan may be an obstacle in the payment plans of China Airlines, amongst other Chinese carriers. The airlines must also spend in foreign currency for fuel purchased overseas. The airline is working hard to combat higher expenses and fewer passengers as trade tensions build up between the world’s two biggest economies.
