AirAsia says interested to be involved in Indonesia airport terminal construction
AirAsia is interested to be involved in the planned construction of terminal four at Indonesia's Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, TEMPO.CO reported today, quoting AirAsia Indonesia president director Dendy Kurniawan.
TEMPO.CO quoted Kurniawan as saying "we had only expressed" interest in the planned construction of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport's terminal four.
"We will follow the government's regulation in the details of the scheme and mechanism," Kurniawan said.
Indonesia Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi responded to budget airline AirAsia by saying it is best for AirAsia to follow the existing procedure, TEMPO.CO reported.
"That is a huge investment. I cannot immediately approve it. If it does go on, we will go through a tender process to involve many more companies," Sumadi said.

Indonesia AirAsia named third cheapest airline in the world
Indonesia AirAsia was recently named the world's cheapest airline for domestic routes. After Global Flight Pricing released a report, it shows that the Indonesian carrier offers the second cheapest domestic flights in the world based on the average price of tickets per km. The airline was placed above JetSmart but behind Jetstar

Indonesia AirAsia and AirAsia X named the the cheapest international carrier by distance travelled
According to a study, AirAsia X and another AirAsia Subsidiary, Indonesia AirAsia, have been named the cheapest airlines by average price ($) per kilometre on international flight searche. This data was analysed by Rome2ri,o who published the 2018 edition of its Global Flight Price Ranking which highlights the cheapest airlines in the world for cost per kilometre. Australia’s Tiger Air is seen as the cheapest airline at a cost of $0.06/km, “likely due to the large distances covered by the budget airline”. From an international perspective, when Rome2rio measured the top 200 airlines by average price ($) per kilometre on international flight searches, it found Asian and Indian carriers dominated the top of the list, with Air Asia X taking top spot, followed by Air India Express and Indonesia AirAsia. Of course, this information should be taken with a pinch of salt, as the price of airlines depends of a lot of other external factors.

Airasia X To Start Amritsar-Kuala Lumpur Flight From August 16
From August 16, the four times a week service will provide visitors access to Amritsar, which has a tremendous potential as a religious, tourism, commerce and trade destination.
The AirAsia X today said it will start direct flight services between Amritsar and Kuala Lumpur as part of its expansion plan in India this year.

AirAsia X Chief Executive Officer Benyamin Ismail said: "Many Sikhs and Punjabis have been asking us to fly direct to Amritsar, home to the world famous Golden Temple, and we are pleased to be able to offer this direct service to this holy city."
"This new route is part of our efforts to strengthen our position in India, which offers us the possibility of expanding in Europe and North America. AirAsia X will focus on promoting Amritsar along with our existing destinations, New Delhi and Jaipur as part of our overall campaign focusing on Fly-Thru traffic from markets like Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand," said Mr Benyamin.
Punjab Minister for Tourism & Cultural Affairs Navjot Singh Sidhu, who was present at the press conference, said: "AirAsia X flying direct to Amritsar is important to Punjabis all over the world. It is a preferred destination not only for the Punjabi diaspora but also many foreign tourists. Connectivity is the heart of tourism in Punjab and the airline offers us its established wide network of connectivity that will link Amritsar to the cities it flies to and the rest of the world."
"We welcome AirAsia X to Amritsar, and we are happy that Punjabi diaspora and foreign tourists from destinations within the wide network of AirAsia, including Australia and New Zealand, will be able to travel to Amritsar and Punjab," Mr Sidhu said.
AirAsia X will offer promotional all-in fares from Rs. 3,555 one way for the economy seat and Rs. 11,900 one-way for Premium Flatbed seats and it will open online bookings from May 2 till May 13 for the travel period between August 16 and October 27.
The long-haul budget airline based in Malaysia will operate four weekly return services between Kuala Lumpur and Amritsar on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, the official said.

AirAsia X airms to inspire gifted youths worldwide with its global talent initiative, “Australia Cultural and Technology Exchange (Acute) 2018” in Melbourne University, Australia. AirAsia X Malaysia marketing head Jurvena Lee sent off 42 students of the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) to take part in the programme, as well as the University's vice chancellor. Acute 2018 is a joint collaboration between the UTM student council, Malaysian Student Council of Australia, Islamic Affairs and Development Body and Malaysia’s Consulate General in Melbourne. Its goals are to promote Malaysian culture to Australian students and highlight UTM students’ latest innovation, which is a quick, cost-effective and durable interlocking brick construction system that has been recently used to build community houses in Tawau, Sawarak.

AirAsia India has come up with a solution as to how to teach people how to behave while they are in the air. First-time flyers, of which there are a lot on AirAsia India, will be introduced and instructed on things such as when to arrive at the airport, how to clear security and when to stand up on an airplane. This how-to video, is hoped to eased the experience of new passengers on AirAsia flights. Thai AirAsia are obtaining seven new aircraft
The low-cost airline, Thai AirAsia, creported on Thursday that it is in the final stages of purchasing seven new aircraft this year, bringing its fleet up to 63 aircraft in total. Last year it purchased five new aircraft Currently, Thai AirAsia benefits from the ever-increasing numbers of Chinese passengers flying to Thailand. However, as part of a revenue growth strategy, the airline needs to diversify and this year will increase its flights to India and to the ASEAN region. Tassapon Bijleveld, CEO, said that last year Thai AirAsia added 16 new routes both domestically and inter-regionally. Thai AirAsia’s target for 2018 is 23.2 million passengers with a load factor of 87%.
